90 days of Tony?!?

So I just started yesterday.....Core synergistics was good, I hate push-ups though. Does "Tony" remind anyone else of Michael Scott? Just checking.....he is slightly obnoxious. How is everyone else feeling after their first week?

Thoughts on Yoga?

Ok so I really liked Yoga. But in talking to a friend who also involved in P90X'ing, she and her mom hated it. I'm just curious to see what all the other P90Xers thought about it....

No Excuse is a Good Excuse but...

Hi team! I'm Sara, my husband is Katie's husbands brother... If that made sense. I'm stoked about the program and am saddened to say that after careful consideration, I will be a week behind the rest of you due to an unfortunate "accident". HA! I'm pretty sure I jacked up my toe pretty good on Sunday. I thought I simply stubbed until I couldn't walk on it and it later turned into this...
Meet My Feet!
{Not sure if you can tell, but it's the right one... totally trashed the very middle toe of all toes!}

Now, I did attempt to do the discs for Monday and Tuesday as best I could, but am feeling like I want to give this program 100% and right now I'm at about 68.2%. Rest assured, I will remain fully dedicated starting Monday and am thoroughly looking forward to the 90 day butt kickin' in store for me!
*MADI- I would love the dinner meal regimen, let me know how I can get it from you or you can email it to me (sara.oborn@hotmail.com)... whatever is BEST for you. THANKS!
*STEVE- It's nice to meet you. I look forward to reading about your progress and can't wait to see your p90x-bod in some wicked cool Marithé et François Girbaud's!

AB Ripper...

...more like AB Ripper' in half and shred 'er to pieces. Wow... is anyone else sore yet?

The motivation

First off CONGRATS on the first day of the workout that will change your life!! I wanted to tell you all it only gets better from here. I have been around this block before, and actually just completed the program in May. I really liked the results that I got, and I hope you all will feel the same when you are done. I wanted to give you all a couple recommendations that I tried and some that I wish I would have done the first time around. First I really think for your own benefit you should take the before and after pictures. This is something that I really didn't want to do the first time around, but by the end found looking back at pictures was really fun and I wish I would have been able to see the whole transformation. Second is if you are committed to the eating program more power to you. I found that I didn't have the time to make all the meals, so I implemented my own eating schedule. I went to Marys (a healthy product store in Layton, you can go anywhere really) and bought some Flax seed oil, some protein powder (vanilla worked best), some frozen berries, soy milk, a banana, apple or orange juice, and ice. I would blend it into a smoothie right after my workout. I found this really filling and very healthy. The P90X program offers a mixture that you can poor into a water bottle and mix up, I personally wasn't fond of this but I know many who liked it. So just go with how you feel, and really just make sure to eat better than you have been and you will see the results you want just as much as the person who did the eating program, but its all up to your preference. I also wanted to know how many of you want to do the eating program. I was thinking that I would post every Sunday the eating program for the week, but I first want to know if any of you really would like me to but this up. If so I will gladly take the time. As for now I will post this weeks and see how it goes, depending on your responses I will either keep going with it or I will just let you all eat your veggies, fruits and protein that you think is sufficient enough for you. So here you all go, this weeks NUTRITION PLAN:
There are three phases to the plan the first is the fat shredder, second the energy booster, and last the endurance maximizer. Remember to get rid of all the junk in your homes/ apartments. They recommend that you go through all your food and get rid of anything that will be fattening or junk food. This will be hard with the upcoming seasons ahead, but just make sure you remember moderation in all things!! They also say to drink plenty of water, 12 oz water two hours prior to exercise, 8-12 oz water 15-30 minutes prior to exercise, and 4-8 oz water every 15 minutes during exercise.

Now for the eating plan, I realized this is pretty lengthy so I am going to give you a protein shake recipe, they recommend a protein bar, and the recovery drink (mixing the powder into water bottle), cottage cheese, nuts, and string cheese for the snacks, and the breakfast, lunch and dinner recipes are really insane so if you want them let me know and that way Katie or I can get them to you.

here is the protein shake, there are 2 versions...
protein shake 1:
1 cup skim milk
1 scoop protein powder, the whey protein you can get from any health product store.
1/2 cup berries
1/2 banana
1/2 ice

combine in the blender and blend until smooth

protein shake 2:
1 cup skim milk
1-1/2 scoops protein powder, whey protein
1 cup berries
1/2 banana
1/2 cup ice

combine in the blender, and blend until smooth

Hope this helps you all. Just remember to watch what you eat, and get the recommended fruits and veggies you need. Good luck with the program and when it starts to get rough just remember the results that you want!

Introduce myself

I don't know any of you, so I thought I would introduce myself and give my stats. My name is Steve Schow and I work with Katie at KSL. I think she took one look at me and thought it might be a good idea for me to start an exercise program. I weigh 267lbs. and my waist is a slim 40 inches. so hopefully I can get some of that off. my goal is to get under 200lbs and squeeze into some old 34 inch Girbaud jeans. I won't submit any pictures with my shirt off. I don't want to make anyone sick, but I am going to work my butt off. Good luck to everyone, the first 2 weeks are going to be the hardest.

INCENTIVE

Please leave a comment with your idea for an incentive/reward. It could be to person who loses the most weight/inches, who gains the most muscle, the best before and after shots, or who does the program 100% for 90 days. You name the terms and the prize... then we'll all decide on the winning idea.

D-DAY: MONDAY, OCT. 20

Alright everyone, the DVD's will be finished today, so you should have them in-hand within the next couple of days. With that said, we will kick-off this 90-day adventure on MONDAY. Make sure to get your dumbbells and resistant band before Monday. Also, if you haven't sent me your money, stick it in the mail ASAP. Thanks everyone!

I have also had a few people ask me about the nutrition plan that the program includes. Madison Sargent has done the program before, and actually bought the program, so she is getting the book to me. Depending on how in-depth it is, I will type-up a one-sheet with guidelines and tips for good eating and nutrition during these 90 days. I'll keep you posted...

First Instructions

Hello fellow P90Xers-

This is going to be an intense journey, but it will be well worth it in the end. I’m so glad you’ve jumped on board to not only keep me motivated, but each other. So, here are all the details:

I have set-up this blog specifically for this group. I will set each of you up as a publisher, so you can add posts, pictures, comments, etc. This will be the main source of communication and tracking of our progress. Let me know if you have problems with the blog.

I have the program DVDs. I will burn each of you the DVDs (yeah, it’s illegal, but it also saves you some serious dough). I am asking that each of you send me $20 to cover the cost of the DVDs, cases and shipping (and the time to burn all of these for you). Email me for my home address.

You are responsible for purchasing (if you do not already have it) the following:

-One set of dumbbells (not too light or too heavy… you use these a lot in the arm routines. I use 10 lbs.)

-Resistant band (the actual program calls for a pull-up bar, but you can use the resistant band instead)

*You can easily find these items at a sporting store such as Dicks, Sports Authority, or Big 5. I have also seen them at Target. Try to get these ASAP so we can get going as soon as you receive the DVDs.

We need to decide on the start day (a Monday, so our rest day is Sunday). I’m open to any suggestions. We can start as soon as everyone has their DVDs and equipment (I’m pushing for Oct. 20th). I think it will be easier to have everyone on the same schedule, that way we can blog about the same workouts at the same time.

There are two programs you can follow within P90X: the LEAN program and the CLASSIC. The difference? The LEAN program focuses on weight loss and toning (not bulking). The CLASSIC program focuses more on weight lifting, toning, bulking and weight loss. My guess is that girls will like the lean, and the boys will like the classic. Just follow the program calendar, or bounce back and forth between the lean and classic. It’s entirely up to you as to what program you choose.

There are a few DVDs in the program (i.e. Yoga, cardio) that may not push you as hard as you want. If you want to opt out of the DVD for that day and go running or go to a more intense yoga class, feel free, just try and stay within the targeted/scheduled workout for that day.

Lastly, in the program, they encourage everyone to take before-and-after photos, weight and measurements. If you’re daring enough to post pics, feel free. It will be exciting to see how everyone evolves after 90 days.

I’m also trying to brainstorm an incentive for the person who does the program 100% for 90 days. I’m open to any ideas.

Any additional questions or concerns you have, please post them on the blog (I’m sure some will have the same questions). Thanks again for joining the club!

Welcome

Hey P90Xers! I will be sending you all an email with all the information you need for the program within the next couple of days. Email me if you have any questions: koborn@ksl.com before then. I have also added each of you as an author to this blog... so don't hesitate to comment, post, add pictures, whatever... this is our blog to motivate each other and get us through the next 90 days.
